A great show at Club Absinthe last weekend. We played all of Core for the first set, all of Purple for the 2nd set, and a mix of STP/Velvet Revolver/Scott Weiland solo hits for the 3rd set. A great crowd, and they even had Rob autographing drum sticks!! Looking forward to being back there soon!
Our show at The Linsmore Tavern on Jan 30 will be a special evening as we play STP’s classic first album “Core” in it’s entirety! We’ve also been working on some other STP tunes that we’ve never played live before. So come on out for a great night of great STP tunes at a great club on the Danforth (just west of Greenwood).
Boy, today is a sad day for all STP fans as we learn that Scott Weiland has passed away on Dec 3/15 at the far too young age of 48. Scott had his demons, that’s for sure, and it sometimes got in the way of the music and caused lots of stress within STP that ultimately led to him being let go from the band. As an STP tribute band, we are obviously huge fans of STP’s music, and even though we never met any of the guys in STP, it leaves a hole when your heroes fall.
No matter what his problems, at the end of the day, Scott leaves a lot of great music for us to remember him by. He was a performer that helped shape the look and sound of the 90’s, and he was a fantastic front man. He was lucky to have such solid and talented musicians behind him, and they were lucky to have a guy at the front of the stage who was so dynamic and charismatic and to top it off had a great voice. It was a great combination, and when they were firing on all cylinders – watch out – they were untouchable! Scott will never be forgotten, he will live on forever through his music. Throw on your STP CD’s or MP3’s or vinyl, lie back, remember, and be taken for ride.
